Duration: May 2026 – June 2027 (Possibility for the extension of part-time work after duration date)
Job Description
Upham’s Corner Main Street is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized Program Coordinator to join our small but mighty team.
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with neighborhood businesses while also assisting in organizing our yearly events and initiatives that bring our district to life. You’ll collaborate closely with the Executive Director, local business owners, volunteers, and community partners to support a thriving, welcoming commercial district.

Role Requirements
Small Business Outreach & Support (12 hours per week)
- Conduct phone and in-person outreach to local small businesses and community organizations
- Build relationships with business owners and learn about their needs and goals
- Conduct basic needs assessments and maintain updated business inventories and vacancy lists
- Provide one-on-one technical assistance, including:
- Sharing information about small business grants and public funding opportunities
- Connecting businesses to local, state, and federal support programs
- Supporting stronger documentation and business practices
- Track and report all outreach and technical assistance on a regular schedule
- Share relevant funding and resource updates through email, newsletters, flyers, and in person
- Attend public safety taskforce meetings
- Organize workshops and recruit facilitators for workshops. Recruit businesses to participate in workshops, networking events, and district promotions
- Assist with coordinating and facilitating small business meetings
Program & Event Coordination (6 hours per week)
- Plan and coordinate UCMS annual events and district initiatives
- Keep the UCMS event calendar and website updated with accurate information
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to ensure smooth and successful events
- Coordinate logistics including vendors, permits, outreach, and on-site event support
- Maintain organized records of program activities, attendance, and outcomes
Track participation and prepare simple reports to share progress with partners and stakeholders
Qualifications
Experience
- At least 2 years of event planning or program coordination experience
- Experience working with small businesses or in community-based settings
- Comfort conducting outreach and building relationships with diverse communities
- Familiarity with Upham’s Corner or Dorchester is a plus
Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Proficiency in database management
- Bilingual proficiency in Cape Verdean Creole or Spanish a plus, but not required

Work and Environmental Conditions
Location: Our office is located in Upham’s Corner, and all events and outreach will take place in and around the district.
Schedule: A hybrid, part-time position with evening and weekend events. We host three major events each year: two Love Your Block and one Annual Holiday Tree Lighting. A maximum of 18 hours per week with the possibility of increase if needed.
Work Environment: Friendly and collaborative team atmosphere where your ideas and contributions are valued. Expect remote work and on-site event coordination.
